How to Generate Interview Questions From Your Resume

Resume-based questions are valuable because they reveal where an interviewer is likely to test ownership, depth, decisions, results, and relevance to the open role.

Prepare safe resume context

Remove your address, phone number, references, identification numbers, and confidential employer information. Keep the roles, projects, skills, dates, and outcomes needed for interview practice. Add the job description separately so the questions can reflect both your experience and the target role.

Generate questions in useful categories

Request questions about career transitions, project ownership, technical depth, stakeholder decisions, failures, measurable outcomes, and skills named in the job description. Ask for easy, medium, and skeptical follow-ups rather than a single flat list.

Test every resume claim

For each important bullet, prepare what the problem was, what you personally did, why you chose that approach, what alternatives you considered, and how the result was measured. If you cannot answer those questions, rewrite the bullet or prepare the missing detail.

Compare the resume with the job description

Identify requirements with strong evidence, partial evidence, and no direct evidence. Prepare concise examples for the strong matches and honest learning plans for gaps. Do not ask AI to manufacture experience merely to match the vacancy.

Build a practice sequence

Begin with ‘tell me about yourself,’ continue with two project questions, one behavioral question, one technical follow-up, and a question about motivation. Answer aloud and ask for a deeper follow-up after each response.

Use resume context in Cluegent

Frequently asked questions

Can AI predict the exact questions from my resume?

No. It can generate plausible questions from prominent claims and role requirements, but the interviewer may focus on different details.

Should I upload my complete resume?

Share only the information needed for practice and remove sensitive personal or confidential details. Review the product's privacy terms first.

How many resume questions should I practise?

Start with two or three questions for every important project or role, then add follow-ups about decisions, tradeoffs, results, and lessons.
